Web design in Manchester

I'm Stef, a web developer based in Prestwich, just up the road in north Manchester, and I build websites for businesses and organisations across the city. Sites start at around £600 - or £300 if you're a charity, co-op, artist, vegan business, or similar. I'm happy to meet wherever suits you: your place, a coffee in the city centre, or round mine in Prestwich for a brew.

The sites I build load fast and are laid out so that someone who lands on them from a Google search finds what they came for in a few seconds - phone number, address, opening hours, what you do, all obvious straight away. They're straightforward for you to edit yourself, and you own all the code outright.

How it works

  1. We talk through what you need - the first chat is free, and if it turns out I'm not the right person for the job I'll say so
  2. You get a written proposal with a cost breakdown for each bit
  3. I build it - a simple site usually takes a day or two
  4. A training session, the full source code, and written instructions come next
  5. Then you choose: host with me, or take it to any provider you like

Most of the time, the thing that actually slows a project down is content - photos, words, opening hours. My free guides and videos walk through all of that if you want a hand with it, or I can put you in touch with a copywriter.

Food and drink: This & That, the "rice and three" institution tucked down a Northern Quarter alley, and Sally's Bakes, the vegan bakery in Bury that delivers across Manchester

Trades and services: Renegade Solar, solar panel installers working across the city from their base in Prestwich, who now rank on the first page for solar searches all over Manchester

Community: Blue Pits Housing Action (personal care and social housing around Middleton and Rochdale, who I've supported for 14+ years), Crumpsall Folk Club, and Uke Group North, who run ukulele workshops across Greater Manchester

Some of those are simple brochure sites, others have booking systems or full catalogues - the principle's the same whatever the size: build it so it loads fast, ranks well, and you can edit it yourself.

I charge a flat hourly rate on every job and tell you exactly what each hour covers - the price I quote is the price you pay, assuming nothing major changes. For a ballpark, the price calculator will give you a figure based on what you need:

  • Website with custom design: £1,400-1,600
  • Complex functionality: £2,000+
