Websites I've built and hosted for clients over the past few years - tradespeople and security firms, bouncy castle hirers and play inspectors, driving instructors, cafes, shops, charities, musicians and holiday let owners. I'm currently hosting around 30 client sites, and every one of them is open source - the code for most sits on my Forgejo instance or my GitHub, so you can read it before you hire me and take it with you if you ever leave. I've been building websites for a living since the mid-2000s, which included leading development at Bouncy Castle Network from its first customer to over 1,000 and five years as a senior developer at Bandcamp - the long version is here - and since going freelance in late 2024 I've pushed tens of thousands of commits to my public repositories, all of it open to inspection.

The numbers

Every site I host gets checked daily for uptime and audited with Lighthouse - the live stats page shows them all, and at the time of writing the median performance score across the lot is 94, with SEO and best practices at 100. Hosting starts at £10 a month, or £40 with updates, monitoring and marketing help included, and both are half price for charities, co-ops, artists and musicians - full pricing is here.

What kind of results?

Most of these are small sites for small businesses, so the typical outcome is a steady trickle of enquiries rather than a dramatic curve. A few I'm happy to name: Renegade Solar went from roughly one enquiry a year on his old Wix site to about one a week after the rebuild, Rachel at My Alarm Security has had her traffic double, Garsdale Cottages escaped the double commission Sykes was charging them for an £800 build, and Rachel has stuck with me since my Bouncy Castle Network days - her review is here, along with more from people I've known for a decade.

What's not on this page

Some clients would rather not be written about, so they're not here - my SEO clients in particular keep a low profile, and Renegade is the happy exception. A few of these sites are deliberately tiny: This & That is a cafe that has barely changed since the 1980s, and its website doesn't need to either.
