PATLog.co.uk - a free and open source website to log your PAT tests

Stop paying daft money for PAT testing software. PATLog is a completely free website I built where you can log all your PAT test results, generate PDF certificates, and create QR codes for each appliance. No monthly fees, no catches - it's open source so you can see exactly how it works.

It's really simple to use - just enter your test results, it generates professional certificates automatically, and you can search through all your past inspections. It works on any device with a browser. Very useful if you're an electrician doing PAT testing or a business that needs to keep compliance records without getting ripped off by expensive software.

How it works

The video walks through the whole thing: register with an email and a password, log a test result, and out comes the certificate. The demo record is my Nintendo Switch (equipment class Earth, 20 watts) with a photo of my dog on the certificate, because why not. The form takes what a PAT tester would expect - visual inspection, plug check, fuse rating in amps, earth continuity in ohms, insulation resistance in milliohms, leakage current in milliamps, load operation test, RCD trip time in milliseconds - with the inspection date pre-filled to today and the re-inspection date to a year's time. I should be honest that I'm not an electrician, so forgive me if the demo values I type are nonsense. Each certificate lives at a permanent link with a 12-random-character code in it, so there are trillions of possible addresses and nobody can guess yours - that's the same address the QR code points to. You can export everything as a CSV and search by serial number, so nothing about PATLog locks your records in. And it stays free because I'd already written the code and hosting a few images is cheap - the self-promotion link at the bottom of the site is the benefit to me. (I hit a rotated-image bug live in the video, which is the sort of thing you only find by using your own software.)
